Legendary London venue, The Roundhouse in Camden, provided the spectacular setting for the annual UK and Ireland final of the Wella Professionals TrendVision Award 2019.

Held on Monday, September 30, the event was hosted by TV favourite Vernon Kay and hairdressing legend, Patrick Cameron, and showcased some of the UK and Ireland’s most impressive hairdressing talent.

This year there was a fresh new look to the iconic event, which included new staging, revised table layouts to enhance the incredible space within The Roundhouse and hair demos during the cocktail reception.

The night itself, which is widely regarded as one of the greatest in the industry calendar, attracted more than 800 of the industry’s finest.

Guests enjoyed a drinks reception followed by a sit-down dinner and three stunning hair shows by some of the world’s greatest hair artists.

This began with a completely bespoke show by the legendary Sassoon Academy team.

Celebrating 65 years of Sassoon, ‘Monoflouro’ was curated especially for this event and focussed on mono tones infused with pure pigmentations—all inspired by the work of Bauhaus master Josef Albers.

Looks celebrated the enduring legacy of the Sassoon geometric method—fused with incredible styling.

Guests were wowed by an incredible show aptly named ‘Collaborate’ that celebrated the diversity of beauty and the colour spectrum, using the iconic Wella portfolio of colour.

This once in a lifetime show pulled together some of the greatest artists in British hairdressing today.

Akin Konizi, HOB Academy; Charlie Taylor, from Charlie Taylor; Darren Ambrose, D&J Ambrose; Darren Lacken, Crow Street Collective; Dom Capel, Lara Johnson Lifestyle; Josh Goldsworthy, Goldsworthys and Leonardo Rizzo & Sharon Cox from Sanrizz all showcased models, which together created an electrifing rainbow finish.

The final show was delivered by Wella’s Technical Director, Robert Eaton, who presented ‘Celestial’.

This hugely memorable show included strong and powerful silhouettes with incredible colour innovation.

Futuristic hair, textures and shapes featured heavily, with embellishment that wowed the audience.

The result was a mesmerisingly eclectic show that demonstrated Robert Eaton’s hairdressing talent at its finest.

The penultimate part of the night was, of course, the announcement of the 2019 TrendVision Award UK & Ireland final winners.

To reach the UK and Ireland final, entrants first entered a photographic competition, before competing against hundreds of hairdressers at the Regional Heats.

This year’s final saw 53 of the UK and Irelands most talented stylists and colourists battle it out to take home the Gold Award, which for many, started at the Wella Professionals World Studio London and Sanrizz Academy in London, earlier in the day.

Competitors set to work creating a total look for an esteemed panel of judges, who included 25 of the most talented names in British hairdressing, such as Bruce Masefield, Errol Douglas MBE, Kerry Hayden and Indira Schauwecker.

The UK and Ireland Gold winners from Creative Artist of the Year & Color Artist of the Year will head off to Seville in Spain for the International TrendVision Award Creative Retreat—a mentoring retreat that will take their hairdressing career to the next level.

As well as the Creative Artist of the Year & Color Artist of the Year winners, the two exclusive UK and Ireland categories, Male Grooming and Runway, also crowned its worthy winners at the glitzy event.

The winners from these two categories will win bespoke education packages, money can’t buy mentoring experiences and a photoshoot.

Their final image from the shoot will then get entered into a further global competition, for the chance to join the Creative Retreat in Seville.

There was also an opportunity for guests and the public to have their say and vote for their favourite look from all finalists looks in the competition, with the People’s Choice Awards.

Thousands of people voted for their overall favourite image, and both a UK and Ireland winner was crowned on the night.

This prestigious award allows clients to vote on looks created by the competitors at the Regional Heats.
